(2014-15 school year only)
The Texas Administrative Code currently requires students in grades 5 and 8 to meet the passing standards on the reading and mathematics state assessments in order to be promoted to the next grade level. Sheldon ISD local policy requires students in grades 5 and 8 to satisfy the above requirement to be promoted to the next grade level. The Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) for mathematics in grades K-8 of the Texas Administrative Code have been revised and the new TEKS will be implemented for the first time in the 2014-15 school year. Due to these changes, the state passing standards for the STAAR grades 5 and 8 mathematics examinations have not yet been established.
The Sheldon ISD Board of Trustees has suspended, for the 2014-15 school year only, the requirement that students in grades 5 and 8 pass the mathematics state assessment to be promoted to the next grade.
