Assistant Prinicpal - Maria A. Lavios
I am absolutely thrilled and humbled to have the opportunity to serve as the new Sheldon Elementary Assistant Principal. This is my first year in SISD and I have over 12 years in education. Most recently, I served as an Elementary Literacy Specialist at the district level and have taught for 9 years prior to that. I earned my bachelor’s degree from the University of Houston, and my master’s in Education Administration from Concordia University.
On a personal note, I have been married for 8 years, and we are blessed with two beautiful children. My daughter Raquel will become a second grader this upcoming school year, and my son Leon is thrilled to begin his journey as a Kindergartener. My family and I have many hobbies but mostly enjoy reading a good book together, enjoying nature, and watching our kids play soccer.
I am eager to serve the staff, students, and community of Sheldon Elementary on the journey towards academic success. I look forward to working together in making a difference in the lives of so many children and families. Together, we can continue to make a positive difference in the education of our students. I look forward to working with you and your children.
