It is with that success in mind that Sheldon ISD is making changes to the current bilingual program model. Beginning in the 2016-2017 school year, all Prekindergarten and Kindergarten students who qualify for services in a bilingual program will participate in a Dual Language program model.
Fire trucks, ambulances, police cars and more were all lined up outside Sheldon ECA on Thursday, May 12, 2016. Not to worry, it wasn’t an emergency. It was all part of the school’s Careers on Wheels! The event was a joint effort between Sheldon ECA and Sheldon Elementary.

Eric Litwin visited SECA and performed for our families and students for Family Literacy Night. Litwin is a song-singing, guitar-strumming, # 1 New York Times Best Selling, award-winning author who brings early literacy and music together. Eric's books have sold over 7 million copies, been translated into 8 languages, and won 18 literacy awards including a Theodor Geisel Seuss Honor Award. Read Across America is an annual reading motivation and awareness program that calls for every child in every community to celebrate reading on March 2. It was also the birthday of the children's author, Dr. Seuss. So the students and teachers at Sheldon ECA celebrated by having special readings of Dr. Seuss favorites, and participating in activities related to the stories!
A small piece of the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo made its way through Sheldon. Each year, the Sheldon Early Childhood Academy is fortunate to have the Northeastern Trail Riders parade through their driveway and give them their own private Rodeo Parade!
This is a letter to inform you that the Sheldon ISD Board of Trustees voted to call a school bond election at a special meeting on Thursday, February 18, 2016 that will include more schools, facility improvements and renovations, technology upgrades and land purchases. The proposal will go before voters on May 7.
Sheldon ECA hosted Children’s Museum Family Night on Tuesday, February 9, 2016. The event drew a crowd of more than 300 people. Fifteen hands on, literacy based activities were set up in the gym. A special thank you to the Children’s Museum of Houston for providing the activities. There was also a book fair in the library.
The staff and students of Sheldon ECA celebrated the 100th day of school with numerous projects and activities. Several classes participated in 100th day of school home projects including posters, hats, and shirts with 100 items. Many classes found numerous ways to count to 100 using cups, cereal, blocks, 100 piece puzzles. Many kindergarten classes used their writing lesson to write about being 100 years old.
Sheldon ISD is getting ready for its biggest annual fundraiser, the Sheldon Shuffle 5K run/walk. All money raised goes toward the Sheldon Education Foundation, which allows the Foundation to award grants to our teachers and scholarships for our kids!
On Thursday, January 28, 2016, Sheldon ECA hosted a Parent Workshop called “Healthy Parenting and Positive Discipline Part 1.” This workshop was given by Amanda S. from ChildBuilders.
Sheldon ISD has contracted with Texas Association of School Administrators (TASA) for the purpose of conducting a comprehensive audit of the core educational program of our school district. Parents and/or community members may wish to be interviewed by the Curriculum Management Audit™ team in order to share information about the strengths and weaknesses of the system.
