On Wednesday, May 4, 2016, Ms. Glover's 1st grade class participated in a field trip with the Houston Zoo and The Nature Conservancy at the Texas City Prairie Preserve.
Sheldon ISD’s martial arts students from all four after school programs (Monahan Elementary, Carroll Elementary, Garrett Elementary and Sheldon Elementary) participated in the district’s first Martial Arts Tournament on Saturday, April 2, 2016. The tournament took place at the C. E. King High School Competition Gym.
On Wednesday, March 30, 2016, the first graders of Garrett Elementary went to the Main Street Theater to watch “Junie B. Jones the Musical.” After the show, the students were able to ask the cast questions. They had a great time and learned a lot from these wonderful and talented actors.

GT Expo On Thursday March 10, 2016 the Gifted and Talented Elementary students held their annual Expo. The students presented their research projects. The projects covered topics such as Pursuit of Passion, Inventions, City of the Future and Biographies of Famous People. The event was held at Carroll Elementary with over 200 people attending.

This is a letter to inform you that the Sheldon ISD Board of Trustees voted to call a school bond election at a special meeting on Thursday, February 18, 2016 that will include more schools, facility improvements and renovations, technology upgrades and land purchases. The proposal will go before voters on May 7.
Sheldon ISD is getting ready for its biggest annual fundraiser, the Sheldon Shuffle 5K run/walk. All money raised goes toward the Sheldon Education Foundation, which allows the Foundation to award grants to our teachers and scholarships for our kids!

There have been a growing number of incidents and safety concerns in recent weeks raised by the Consumer Product Safety Commission associated with hoverboards, also known as self-balancing scooters or hands-free segways. In light of the number incidents reported in the news, and the potential impact to the safety of our students, Sheldon ISD has decided that these devices will not be allowed on district property.
